Where every price on this site comes from, how often it updates, and what to do if something looks wrong.
Primary source: MSAMB
The Maharashtra State Agricultural Marketing Board (MSAMB) publishes daily prices reported by APMCs (market committees) across Maharashtra. This is the primary source for Maharashtra markets on BajarBhav, since it is typically fresher and covers more local markets than the national feed.
National source: Agmarknet
Agmarknet (Government of India) publishes daily prices from mandis nationwide. It is used as the fallback for Maharashtra markets when MSAMB has not yet reported, and is the primary source for markets outside Maharashtra.
How often prices update
Markets typically report from midday onward on a trading day. Until a market has reported, BajarBhav shows the most recent day it did report and states the date plainly next to the price, never an old price presented as if it were current.
Normalisation
The same commodity or market is often reported under different spellings or scripts (for example सोयाबीन / Soyabean / Soybean, or a market name in Marathi versus its English transliteration). These are resolved to one canonical entity so that a price search finds the right page regardless of which spelling was typed or reported.
Validation
Every incoming record is checked before publishing: minimum price cannot exceed modal price, modal cannot exceed maximum, no negative prices, no future-dated reports, and the reported commodity and market must resolve to a known entity. Records that pass these checks but still look implausible (for example, a per-quintal price far below any commodity’s realistic range) are flagged and excluded from headline rankings such as “highest price today”, though the record itself remains visible and traceable.
Markets not yet mapped to a district
MSAMB publishes APMC names without a district field. BajarBhav derives district assignment from the market name itself where the evidence is strong enough, and deliberately leaves a market unmapped rather than guess when it isn’t, an incorrect district would show the wrong market as “nearby”.

Market coordinates, used for the Compare page’s distance and net-realisation figures, and for district mapping, come from OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License.
